The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has urged the National Defence College, Abuja to complete and move to its permanent site along the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway (Airport Road) within two years.
The FCT Minister, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed made the call when the Commandant of the College, Rear Admiral Patrick Agholor paid him a courtesy call in his office on Friday.
The Minister reiterated that their continuous stay in the heart of the Federal Capital City is an aberration considering the nature of their activities.
Mohammed urged the College to accelerate the development of its Permanent site to conform to the expectations of the Abuja Master Plan.
While thanking the Commandant for the visit, he noted that the siting of this premier military institution in the Federal Capital Territory has indeed added value to Abuja, especially now that there are some security challenges in some parts of the country.
The Minister promised to assist the institution to talk to the Minister of Defence in order to make necessary budgetary provision to complete the permanent site.
Mohammed revealed that in tune with the monetization policy of the government, the houses earlier given to them to be used as participant dormitory would be sold to deserving Nigerians.
Speaking earlier, the Commandant of the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Patrick Agholor said that his team has found it pertinent to visit the Minister to officially notify him that he had been posted to the College and resumed duty.
The Commandant disclosed that the College would soon commence its Course 22 programme.
