By: Gracious Akujobi Ivory Coast midfielder and current African Footballer of the year has just been announced winner of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) African Footballer of the Year for 2013. Toure was voted best ahead of four competitors; John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses, Jonathan Pitriopa and Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang.
This is the fifth time Toure is being nominated for the awards which he eventually won.
The winner of the BBC African Best Player award is chosen from votes and text messages from fans across the world.
While thanking the fans who voted for him Toure, said the other four nominees were also strong contenders
“I want to thank my fans all over the world who voted for me. This is the fifth time I am being nominated for this award and I am happy and glad I finally made it,” an elated Toure said.
