ABUJA – By Paul Efiong The Department of State Services, DSS, has said that its operatives did not raid the Pension Commission (PENCOM) Office in Abuja, as reported in the media earlier today.
According to a top official of the DSS, a standby team was placed at the Pencom Headquarters on Saturday morning to guide against a situation where sensitive documents would be tampered with ahead of the resumption of the new management.
Prompt News Online recalls that the erstwhile Director General of the commission, Mrs Chinelo Anohu- Amazu, was on Wednesday sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The DSS official said, “We did not conduct any raid on PENCOM office. What we did was to put a standby team at the office to prevent anybody from tampering or altering any document unlawfully or without due process.
“We had an intelligence information that some documents are being tampered with, some documents are being signed and back dated at the PENCOM office following the announcement of a new management of the commission.
“We are only being pro-active by ordering all officials there to stop forthwith any action on official documents pending when the new management will assume duty.”
