By Olusegun Lawrence The Senate is set to investigate alleged contract scam in the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing under the watch of its current Minister, Babatunde Fashola.
Mr. Fashola is alleged to have violated the laws guiding contract awards in the manner contracts for the construction of 10 roads and bridges in the sum of N166 billion were awarded.
The Minister is said to have been queried by the Bureau Public Procurement (BPP).
Senator Dino Melaye, brought the matter before the Senate at plenary on Wednesday, under a Point of Order.
According to him, “I draw the attention of the country to some infraction and corruption between the ministry of power and the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP).
“Nigerians are watching; they have opened a ledger for thieves in power, and who are still in power, he said.
Melaye is expected to bring up a motion on the matter on Thursday for deliberation and subsequent investigation.
