The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has hailed the draws which pitched the Supers Eagles against Ethiopia in the final play-off for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil
General Secretary of the NFF, Musa Amadu opined that the Super Eagles now have brighter chances of qualifying for the world cup.
“It is a good draw and I am excited that we are playing the lowest ranked team among the last 10 teams in the race for the world cup ticket. They are ranked 93 in the world and 25 in Africa.
“We have met them twice in AFCON qualifier in 2011 and at this year’s AFCON in South Africa and we drew in 2-2 in Addis Ababa and in South Africa. We shall by the grace of God beat them to qualify” he stated
He said that the star game for this final round is the Ghana/Egypt game, adding that Ivory coast versus Senegal duel is very unpredictable and could go either way.
Meanwhile, two ex-internationals, Kadiri Ikhana and Ben Iroha have tipped the Super Eagles to beat the Wylas of Ethiopia home and away in the final play-off round of the Brazil 2014 world cup qualifiers only if they remain focused.
In separate chats with Prompt News Online, the former national team coaches also agreed with the NFF Scribe that the Eagles chances of qualifying for the Mundial are very bright.
Ikhana said Eagles will over run the Ethiopians no matter how much antics they apply to stop Nigeria from going to the World cup in Brazil. He enjoined the Eagles to stay focused and get the job done in the first leg in Addis Ababa so that the second leg becomes a mere formality.
On his part, Iroha said, “The Eagles are through to the final of the world cup in Brazil. I do not see Ethiopia stopping Nigeria. I was in South Africa and I saw the Ethiopians hold the Eagles before two penalty kicks by Victor Moses won the game and I don’t see them giving us problem” he said.
