By Olusegun Lawrence More facts have emerged on how the Ekiti state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deployed Federal resources to defeat the All Progressives Congress in the June 21, 2014 governorship election in the state.
According to the embattled Secretary of Ekiti PDP, Dr. Temitope Aluko, former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro brought $35 million cash from former President Goodluck Jonathan for Governor Ayo Fayose, to prosecute the governorship campaign.
Aluko, who addressed newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, said Mr. Fayose had earlier collected $2 million from the NNPC Towers in Abuja in March to prosecute the primary election, making $37 million.
He said as the chairman of the Intelligence, security committee for the campaign, he played key role in the effective utilisation of the money to defeat the APC governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, who was then the sitting governor.
“It was about $35m dollars which is about N4.7bn he gave us for the real election and for the primaries, he released 2 million dollars to Fayose.
“I have details for all I am saying and I was present when they brought the money and it was Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro that brought the money, the 35 million dollars which he delivered to Fayose at Spotless Hotel.
“I can name eight people that were there. We were all there because he said he will want us to take delivery so that there will be transparency and accountability,” Aluko said.
