Lille head coach Davide Ancelotti has emphasised the importance of a collective defensive effort as his side prepare to face Victor Osimhen and Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League, Prompt News Online reports.
The French side will host the Turkish Super Lig champions at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Tuesday night, with Osimhen expected to lead the visitors’ attack.
The Nigerian forward remains one of the most dangerous strikers in world football, and Ancelotti has acknowledged the challenge his quality presents to Lille.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, the Italian tactician insisted that stopping Osimhen would require a coordinated effort from the entire team rather than relying on an individual defender.
“We stop him with a collective effort. It doesn’t depend on one player; it always depends on the collective,” Ancelotti said.
“He’s a player who, at Napoli, almost won the Scudetto single-handedly.
“We know the potential he has, and we know we must always be vigilant when we attack and when we defend.”
