By Harry Awurumibe Unarguably, the most successful African female footballer, Perpetua Nkwocha clocked forty years on Sunday.
This iconic footballer and Four-Time CAF African Women’s Footballer of the Year Awards winner has bestrode the African football terrain for a decade and half.
She had during her time in the country’s senior female national team also helped Nigeria to win many trophies even as she played important roles in the Super Falcons’ rare feat of winning the Africa Women Championship (AWC) for a record seven times.
Nkwocha herself won the Africa Best Female Footballer’s Awards on four occasions, the first and only African woman to do so.
She won the awards in 2004, 2005, 2010 and 2011 respectively.
