By Mohammed Yangida, Lafia More facts have emerged on why Nasarawa state governor Umaru Tanko Almakura, is calling on the Federal Government to investigate the tenure of the immediate past minister of Information and supervising minister of defence, Labaran Maku.
Investigation shows that Nasarawa state government believes Mr. Maku was responsible for the proliferation of fire arms during the Ombatse crisis while serving as supervising minister of defence.
The state government is also alleging that Maku received funds in the names of some individuals in the state who will assist in the release of 200 Chibok girls abducted by boko Haram.
More findings revealed that the state is also not happy with the conduct of Maku as the minister from the state for betraying the north and supervising the production of libellous documentary aired on AIT and NTA.
It could be recalled that Al – Makura recently called for the probe of Maku over his role in the $2.1bn arms deal.
In a statement issued by the Special Assistant to governor Umaru Tanko Almakura on media and publicity Tukur Ahmed, the governor challenged Maku to explain his role in the Ombatse and Baba Alakyo Saga and the killings of 86 security operatives in his state while he was in charge of ministry of defence.
According to Al-Makura “the probe of the arms deal by the security agencies will not be complete if investigation is not carried out on how Labaran Maku as former information Minister deceived Nigerians that the war was being won while he allegedly collected millions of Naira under the guise of negotiating for the release of the Chibok girls as the then supervising minister of defence”.
He continued “Maku must provide answers to the failed deal to facilitate the release of the chibok girls from captivity and also explain why such deals where entered into”, Almakura said.
The governor added that “Nigerians demand explanations from Maku as all along as minister for information he has been feeding the public with evil lies that the war against insurgency was on the right direction while millions of tax payers money was being siphoned to private pockets ”Al-makura alleged.
