            By Solihu Abdulsemih, Osogbo

A 20-year-old man, Sulaimon Taofeek, has been remanded at the correctional center by Osun Magistrate Court, Osogbo on Monday for breaking into residence of one Adeleke Nurudeen, stealing aluminium windows valued at Two Million Naira.

The defendant was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on unlawful breaking and entering, malicious damage, and theft.

The charges stem from an incident alleged to have occurred on September 26, 2026, at about 12:00 p.m. in the Rinsayo Area of Osogbo.

Taofeek is alleged to have unlawfully broken into the dwelling house of one Adeleke with the intent to steal. The prosecution further alleges that during the incident, the accused willfully and maliciously damaged the aluminium windows and window glass of a two-bedroom flat, before proceeding to steal the items, which are valued at Two Million Naira.

The charges, filed under sections 411, 411(2), 451, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002. When the charges were read to the defendant, he entered a plea of not guilty, setting the stage for a full trial.

The Prosecutor, Oluwaseun Babatunde informed the court that the prosecution was not yet ready to proceed with the trial.

He specifically requested an adjournment to allow the state to adequately present its evidence, establish the facts of the case.

During the brief proceedings, Taofeek stood without any legal representation, saying that the alleged crime was not up to the amount the procecutor mentioned, which is two million naira.

The Cheif Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara, ordered the remand of the defendant and adjourned the matter to November 16, 2026, for the continuation of the trial and the hearing of the pending counts, while the case will remain within the purview of the court as the legal process unfolds.
