The Munich Football Arena and Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou will host the 2028 and 2029 UEFA Champions League finals respectively, European football’s governing body UEFA confirmed Tuesday.
Bayern Munich’s home ground — also known as the Allianz Arena for sponsorship purposes — has previously staged the final in 2025 and 2012.
For Camp Nou, however, the 2029 showpiece will mark its first hosting of the competition’s biggest game in exactly 30 years.
The Barcelona stadium last hosted the Champions League final in 1999, when Manchester United famously scored twice in stoppage time to overturn Bayern Munich and secure a dramatic 2-1 victory, completing their treble that season.
While the 70,000-capacity Munich Football Arena is ready to stage the 2028 final, Camp Nou remains under redevelopment as part of an extensive renovation project that began in 2023.
Barcelona spent more than two years playing their home matches away from the stadium before returning to Camp Nou last November.
Construction work, however, is still ongoing as the club continues its ambitious transformation of the iconic venue.
