Defending champions Flying Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, Prompt News Online reports.
The Flying Eagles and their officials departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday morning before continuing their journey to Yamoussoukro, the host city of the tournament.
Abdu Maikaba’s side will begin the defence of their title with a high-profile clash against arch-rivals Ghana’s Black Satellites on July 27 at the Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro.
The seven-time African champions will then face Togo’s Junior Sparrow Hawks at the same venue on July 30 before rounding off their Group B campaign against Burkina Faso’s Young Stallions on August 2.
The 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship will also serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2027 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, with the top-performing teams earning places at the continental finals.
The Flying Eagles have won the last two editions of the tournament.
