Tunisia  have reportedly parted ways with head coach Sabri Lamouchi following the Carthage Eagles’ crushing 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026.

The North Africans were outclassed by the Swedes on Sunday night, prompting the Tunisia Football Federation to make a swift managerial change.

Former head coach Mondher Kebaier is expected to take charge of the team on an interim basis for the remainder of the tournament.

Tunisia will look to bounce back when they face Japan in their next Group Stage fixture on Sunday, June 21.

Lamouchi was appointed head coach in January 2026 and oversaw four matches during his brief spell in charge.

The former African champions managed only one goal while conceding 11 across four matches.

The Carthage Eagles began his tenure with a goalless draw against Canada before suffering a 1-0 defeat to Austria and a heavy 5-0 loss to Belgium. The humiliating loss to Sweden ultimately proved to be the final straw.
