The National Youth Service Corps has begun issuing call-up letters to prospective corps members of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II, as thousands of graduates scramble online to confirm their deployment details ahead of the upcoming orientation exercise.
Checks on the NYSC portal on Monday showed that call-up numbers and state postings were uploaded in the early hours of the day, sparking immediate excitement and tension among prospective corps members.
Many candidates confirmed receiving notifications, while others reported delays accessing the platform due to heavy traffic as the portal struggled under a surge of logins.
Some affected users lamented slow response time while attempting to check their deployment status, with one prospective corps member describing the situation simply as “traffic everywhere” as graduates rushed to view their postings.
Complaints also trended across social media, where several users expressed frustration over delayed access and uncertainty about their assigned states.
Prospective corps members have been directed to check their call-up status via the official NYSC portal as mobilisation enters its final stage ahead of camp opening.
The development comes shortly after the scheme released its timetable for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation programme. According to the NYSC, the exercise is scheduled to commence nationwide on April 22, beginning with registration and reception of corps members, and closing on April 24, when the swearing-in ceremony will hold.
The orientation camp will subsequently run until May 12, marking the start of the one-year mandatory national service for the batch.
The scheme also cautioned prospective corps members to observe safety guidelines while travelling to their various orientation camps, warning against night journeys.
It advised corps members to break journeys once it is 6:00 pm and continue travel the following morning for safety reasons.
