Laycon Reflects On Losing Himself After Reality TV Fame

Reality TV star and rapper Laycon has shared a personal story about his journey toward self-discovery, revealing that he struggled to reconnect with his inner voice after winning Big Brother Naija in 2020.

The rapper, whose real name is Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, made the revelation in a recent video broadcast titled “Life With Laycon.” In the video, he spoke about the role silence has played in helping him rediscover himself and achieve inner peace.

Opening up about the experience, Laycon recalled how overwhelming life became after his victory on the reality show.

“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?” he asked.

“I have been there and I want to share a part of that experience with you. After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice and the first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest,” the rapper said.

According to the ‘Fierce’ crooner, the moment his inner voice returned, it began prompting him with deep and reflective questions about his life and future.

“The voice kept asking me questions like, ‘Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this?

“Are you happy? Questions that made me want to sit alone with my thoughts. So, that’s what I did. From that conversation came a lot of necessary but uncomfortable truths and realisation about myself,” he added.

Prompt News reports Laycon also noted that many people struggle with personal growth because they avoid moments of silence and solitude.

He explained that although silence can feel uncomfortable, it often becomes a powerful tool for self-reflection and personal development.

According to him, quiet moments allow people to examine their lives more clearly, confront their realities and make the changes they need.

The rapper encouraged his fans to embrace solitude and take time to reflect on their lives, stressing that self-accountability is an important part of growth.
