Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, calling them bold and necessary efforts to prevent national collapse.
Speaking to reporters in Lagos on Monday after a meeting with the president, Fayose said his visit was personal and aimed at encouraging Tinubu amid tough economic conditions.
“There’s no miracle solution,” he said. “But the president is making courageous decisions that are essential for the country’s stability.”
Fayose, a leading figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said his backing of Tinubu was based on personal conviction, not political loyalty.
Prompt News reports that Fayose noted that even during his time as a PDP governor, he had openly supported Tinubu’s leadership style.
“There’s a difference between transformation and stabilisation,” he said. “What Tinubu is doing gives us hope for the future.”
Amid speculation about his political future, Fayose firmly ruled out leaving the PDP.

“I will not defect to any party — not even the APC,” he stated. “I’m 65 this year and staying put.”
However, he warned that the PDP is in deep trouble and needs urgent reform to survive.
“If quick action isn’t taken, the party could become a shadow of itself,” he cautioned.
