Nigerian singer Simi has voiced her concerns about people calling her daughter, Adejare, by the name “Duduke,” which is actually the title of a song she released while expecting her child.
“People call my daughter Duduke which I don’t like. It doesn’t mean anything,” Simi shared, expressing her discomfort with the nickname.
She explained that “Duduke” is not a name but a rhythmic sound meant to evoke feeling in the song. “As in if it means something good… it is just a beat,” she clarified.

Although she understands the nickname is often used affectionately, Simi said, “I get it; it’s coming from a good place and I try not to react.”
Still, the singer prefers that her daughter be addressed by her actual name, Adejare, rather than the song’s title, which holds no personal meaning for her child.
