Sola Allyson fires back at critics, calls them ‘dark souls’

Renowned gospel singer Sola Allyson has lashed out at critics who questioned her decision not to explicitly mention “Jesus” in her songs, describing them as “dark souls.”

The backlash came after veteran gospel artist Dr. Panam Percy Paul revealed that he once rejected a £24 million offer in 1995 to ensure he continued using the name “Jesus” in his music.

In response to critics drawing comparisons, Allyson condemned their approach, suggesting they were either seeking validation through criticism or attempting to force her into their mold.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Allyson expressed her frustration, stating that she refuses to align with people who claim to follow Jesus but exhibit harsh and unkind behavior.

She emphasized that her music remains deeply rooted in faith, even if she does not always mention Jesus explicitly.

“Why are you people this callous and unkind?” she wrote. “If this is what you are with your own Jesus, I don’t want to be identified with you! Is it that you are desperately seeking to add light to your dark space by bullying others into joining you? Or do you struggle with low self-esteem and need validation?”

She further argued that the Jesus she knows would never endorse such behavior, accusing her critics of merely calling His name without truly embodying His teachings.

“I don’t want to be a part of dark souls who outwardly present ‘Jesus.’ This act is dark and callous! This is bullying! The Jesus I know would NEVER do this!” she added.

Allyson, who has faced similar criticism in the past, reiterated that her focus remains on drawing souls to God rather than conforming to others’ expectations.

“It’s God that souls should be drawn to, right? It’s God that Jesus leads us to… I don’t understand the bashing. Over 20 years now! Ha. May God save me at this point,” she wrote.
