Tragedy struck as a woman abducted in Abuja has been confirmed dead, with her body recovered in the Ijah-Gbagyi community, located in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State.
A family member confirmed the news, stating that the woman’s remains were discovered on Tuesday morning by vigilante groups in the area.
Upon finding the body, the vigilantes alerted their counterparts in Chikakore, who then contacted local authorities.
The Byazhin Division’s DPO in Kubwa personally coordinated the evacuation of the body, which has since been taken to the Kubwa General Hospital morgue.
Sources indicated that the woman, identified as Esther, likely died from exhaustion while being transported through the bush by her kidnappers.
It is believed that after her death, the abductors abandoned her body and continued with their mission, taking other victims with them.
Esther leaves behind her husband and four children, including one who remains in the kidnappers’ custody. The family has not heard from the abductors since the incident.
