Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, who was recently suspended from his position as the pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, has officially launched a new ministry in Lagos named The Family Fellowship.
In a video that gained widespread attention on Monday morning, Iluyomade was seen celebrating the inaugural service of the fellowship with members at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Sunday service was filled with lively dancing and joy as the new ministry began its journey.
Iluyomade shared the announcement on Instagram, inviting the public to attend the fellowship. He wrote, “The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. It promises to be a great experience.”
Previously, Iluyomade served as the senior pastor of RCCG’s City of David Parish. He was suspended by the church in 2024 following controversy over his wife, Pastor Siju Iluyomade’s, extravagant 60th birthday celebration.
The event occurred shortly after the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe, a key church member and former CEO of Access Bank, who perished in a helicopter crash in the U.S.
Many criticized the timing of the birthday celebration, as it took place just weeks after Wigwe’s untimely death, with some viewing it as insensitive given the church’s deep connection to the family. The backlash led to an investigation by the RCCG Governing Council.
In June 2024, the couple was suspended for three months and reassigned to the RCCG headquarters in Ebute Metta. Their suspension became further controversial when they were disinvited from attending the Wigwe family’s funeral.
Despite the challenges, the Iluyomades have now launched The Family Fellowship to continue their ministry and spiritual mission.
