The Lagos State Government has confirmed the arrest of a nursery school teacher, Stella Nwadigo, of Christ-Mitots School, Ikorodu, following a viral video showing her physically abusing a three-year-old boy.
Nwadigo was apprehended by operatives of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (LDSVA) after the video surfaced online.
In the footage, she was seen slapping the child, identified as Abayomi Michael, for struggling with a classroom assignment.
The video, widely shared on social media platform X, sparked outrage among Nigerians, with many calling for the immediate arrest of the teacher and the closure of the school.
In a swift response, the LDSVA commended Nigerians for bringing the incident to their attention. In a statement shared on X, the agency said:
“We appreciate everyone who reported the disturbing incident of a teacher recorded physically abusing a 3-year-old boy.
“We are pleased to inform the public that the teacher has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and investigations are underway.”
The agency reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the rights of children and creating a nurturing environment for them.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and the agency assured the public that justice would be served.
