Two Nigerian footballers Ademola Lookman and Victor Boniface have been shortlisted by Confederation of African Football (CAF) for Player of the Year award.
Moroccan player Brahim Diaz completes the final three-man list, in the final shortlist announced by the African Football Governing Body.
The award recognises footballers who have made significant contributions during the 2023/2024 season.
Recall that Lookman of Atalanta, had an outstanding season, playing a crucial role in the team’s UEFA Europa League triumph and earning the title of the club’s Player of the Year.
In the same vein, Boniface from Leverkusen was pivotal in his club’s success, contributing to victories in the Bundesliga, German Cup, and German Super Cup, as well as making significant contributions to the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles.
Similarly, Real Madrid’s playmaker Brahim Diaz was instrumental in securing multiple titles, including La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the Spanish Super Cup, demonstrating his significant impact on both club and country.
These players have been recognised for their exceptional performances, making them top contenders for Africa’s most prestigious football award.
The winner will be announced at the upcoming ceremony in Marrakesh. – ARISE NEWS
