Brazil has won the hosting right for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The South American nation secured the highest number of votes at the 74th FIFA Congress in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.
Brazil received 119 votes, while the joint bid of Belgium, Netherlands and Germany received 78 votes.
It will be tenth edition in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, PROMPT NEWS reports.
The competition kicked off in China PR in 1991. Since the opening tournament, Sweden, the USA, Germany, Canada, France, and Australia & New Zealand (co-hosts) have all hosted at least one edition.
The tournament was expanded from 24 to 32 teams at the last edition. READ ALSO:
