The Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, has inaugurated its Distance Learning Centre worth N526.7 million to increase access to university education.
Prof. Liman Tukur, the university’s Vice Chancellor made this known in Yola on Thursday at the inauguraton ceremony of the center.
He said the initiative was meant to provide accessible education to all Nigerians and break the barriers inhibiting access to higher education.
“The distance learning mode of education is anchored on the need for flexible and innovative learning solutions to bridge the gap between ambition and opportunity, between dreams and reality,” he said.

The VC said the contract, which was awarded in Aug. 2021 at the initial cost of N403.9 million was later reviewed to N526.7 million due to the surge in the prices of building materials.
Tukur confirmed that the project was finaced from the university’s internally generated revenue (IGR) generated from the former distance learning centre located in Yola town.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the university scheduled its 28th convocation ceremony for Saturday. (NAN)
