Like ‘Abiku’, the reoccurring fuel scarcity has hit the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja and its environs as most of the filling stations in the city are without the most treasured Premium Motor Spirits (PMS) commonly known as petrol in their tanks to dispense to customers.
Prompt News reports that most of the known major fuel retail stations in the FCT have shut their gates to customers as they said they do not have any products to sell to customers.
The major retailers which have their premises shut in Abuja since Monday are A.A Rano mega stations in Airport Road, AFIDEN and A.Y Shafa at City Gate and most of the filling stations along the busy Airport Road in Abuja.
With the exception of the state-owned Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) stations in the city most major marketers like AP, TotalEnergies, Mobil and others have shut their filling stations in Abuja.
The situation are the same in the satellite towns of the FCT as motorists and commuters are bearing the brunt of the May 29, 2023 removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his acceptance speech at the Eagle Square Abuja.
Meanwhile, few filling stations that still have the products to dispense have jerked up the pump price to N750 to N800 depending the filling station as the prices varying from one part of the city to another.
Expectedly, fuel hawkers have resurfaced on the major roads as desperate motorists have no choice but to patronise them with the risk involved in buying contaminated products. READ ALSO:
