The FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it will deploy gun truck to Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre to strengthen security around the facility.
This is contained in a statement by the Command’s Spokesperson, Mr Samuel Idoko, on Wednesday in Abuja.
The NSCDC Commandant in the territory, Mr Olusola Odumosu, who made this known when he received the Comptroller of Corrections, FCT Command, Mr John Francis in his office, said the gun truck would be used for surveillance patrol and securing the facility.
He said that the command recently received three gun trucks for the protection of lives and property within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Odumosu appreciated the visit, saying it would boost existing synergy between the two services towards curving crimes in the territory.
“In view of the common goal the Corps share with other security agencies, we are poised to synergise at all times to achieve this all-important goal.
“Provision of security is not something anyone could handle alone; security is all encompassing and requires that all hands should be on deck to actualise.
“Unhealthy rivalry is not necessary if we must achieve the mandate of securing lives and property of the people, as well as government’s critical national assets,” he said.
Odumosu disclosed that recent change in operational strategies by the command had resulted in the arrest of vandals of critical infrastructure, bandits, illegal miners, oil thieves, fraudsters and child traffickers, among others.
