Jose Peseiro demanded a record monthly salary of $120,000 to continue as Super Eagles head coach.
The Portuguese officially left the post on Friday following the expiration of his contract.
Peseiro took to the social media to announce his departure.
Before the announcement, Peseiro was in discussion with the NFF over a new contract.
“He asked for $120,000 a month salary, but the NFF offered to pay him his current salary of $50,000 instead,” an NFF official informed SCORENigeria.
“That was where negotiations broke down.”
Peseiro was appointed Super Eagles head coach in May 2022.
The 63-year-old led the West Africans to second position at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
