Hosts Tanzania were held to a 1-1 draw by Nigeria’s Falconets in the first leg of their 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at the Azam Sports Complex, Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
Chioma Olise gave Nigeria the lead on the hour mark.
The home team rallied with Usnath Ubamba netting the equaliser 11 minutes later.
Both teams will clash again in the reverse fixture at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja next week Sunday.
The overall winners will proceed to the fourth round.
The Falconets advance to the third round through a walkover following Mauritius’ withdrawal from the race.

At the 2022 U-20 women’s World Cup the Falconets got to the quarter-final and lost 2-0 to Netherlands.
