For the residents in the urban and rural areas of the South East geopolitical zone, respite is yet to come their ways as the sit-at-home cancer has continued to fester even as economic activities are at the lowest ebb.
Prompt News can confirm that the residents of the five South East states are religiously obeying the Monday sit-at-home order which was introduced by the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Major roads and streets were deserted throughout the day in the commercial cities of Aba in Abia; Owerri in Imo; Enugu in Enugu Onitsha in Anambra and Abakiliki in Ebony states respectively.
Also, shops were closed across Abia, Anambra, Ebony, Enugu and Imo states as business activities grounded to a halt while both commercial and private vehicles were off road for fear of the unknown.
Both private and federal government-owned schools in the five states were closed on Monday just as residents stayed at home to monitor the situation.
Recall that Enugu Governor Peter Mbah recently threatened to deal with those who are observing the sit-at-home order of IPOB.
The governor, like his counterpart in Anambra state, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has been threatening to punish their residents who obey the sit-at-home order of IPOB without much success.
Economic activities will resume throughout the geopolitical zone on Tuesday.
