The Ohakim family on Friday buried late Lady Nkiru Eucharia Ohakim, wife of younger brother of former governor of Imo state Dr. Ikedi Godson Ohakim, Emmanuel Chibu Ohakim, Ph.D.
This is even as the bereaved husband has announced the establishment of Lady Eucharia Nkiru Empowerment Foundation (LENOF) to continue her philanthropic gestures to humanity.
Ohalim who was the Chief of Staff to governor Ohakim (his elder brother) made the announcement at the funeral service of Lady Nkiru Eucharia Ohakim (nee Chukwubude) on Friday at Holy Trinity Church (HTC), Umunnuma Okohia in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
And to set the ball rolling he announced that LENOF will undertake the building of an ultra modern church hall in HTC, adding that he, his children, the entire Ohakim family and friends will build the proposed church hall to immortalise the name of the deceased.
“I have intimated my lord bishop that with his permission, I and my children have decided to immortalise the name of my late loving wife, Lady Nkiru by launching a foundation in her memory to continue the philanthropic works she was doing before her death by building a conference hall for our church”.

Ohakim, a former senior staff of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) eulogised his late wife for her good virtues and above all commitment to the kingdom work, promising to keep her memory alive for as long as it takes.
Earlier in his exhortation, the Primate of All Nigeria and Anglican Archbishop of Abuja Diocese Most Revd Henry Ndukuba, Ph.D, admonished christians to give their lives to Christ Jesus in order to inherit external life.
Represented by the Bishop Emeritus of Orlu Diocese, Most Reverend Bennett Okoro, Primate Ndukuba said
death is viewed as opposite of blessing by people but those who die in Christ Jesus are happier than those who died in sin because they are doomed.
He reminded all that the bible said that the wages of sin is death, adding that: “life is like a journey which can be long or short”, saying “it is only your relationship with God that will guarantee heaven”.
The Clergy then asked people to repent and give their lives to Christ Jesus so that they will be saved just as he bemoaned societal ills and admonished the political class and entire citizens to make a U-turn to save our society.
The preacher however eulogised the late Lady Nkiru Ohakim for her good works and quoting the book of Galatians 6:7, which said that whatever a man sows he will reap.
“Repent and accept Jesus Christ so that you will be saved. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour”, he said.
The Primate said Lady Nkiru Ohakim is saved if she did a good work while she was on earth even as he lamented acute shortage of good leadership in Nigeria.
He also expressed sadness over the hardship in Nigeria and berated the political class for the confusion including the incessant killings and bloodshed in the land especially in Imo state. He asked for peace in the land.
Also speaking at the event, the Lord Bishop of Diocese of Isi Mbano, Rt. Reverend Godson Ukanwa, Ph.D, thanked the Primate for sending a representative while advising the people of God live a good life.
In his vote of thanks, elder brother to the bereaved and ex-governor Ohakim thanked all for coming to commiserate with the entire family at the time of grief.
No fewer than five Anglican Bishops attend the event including Dr. Isaac Nwaobia, Archbishop of Aba province; Rt. Revd Edward
