A 40- year-old driver, Taiwo Adewusi, on Friday, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly damaging his employer ‘s vehicle valued over N5 million.
The defendant, who resides at Idimu, Lagos , is standing trial on charges of conspiracy, stealing and wilful damage to property.
The prosecutor, ASP Evenlyn Ehieniua, told the court that the defendant committed the offences in August 2022 at Idimu, Lagos.
Ehieniua alleged that the defendant while working as Mrs Joy Amosun’s driver, stole her SUV ‘s ‘catalytic converter’ valued at N450,000 and N86,000 cash.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant in the process also allegedly damaged the vehicle valued, N5 million.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 287, 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr M. A. Adegbaye, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adegbaye adjourned the case until April 26 for further mention. (NAN)
