The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has said that it is not planning to retire some senior officers in the rank of Air Vice Marshals (AVMs) and Commodores.
NAF spokesperson, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, in a statement on Tuesday, dismissed report in a national daily to the effect that the NAF is at the verge of retiring a number of senior officers connected with the ongoing investigation of arms purchase under the immediate past administration.
“It is pertinent to state that this story is unfounded and did not emanate from the NAF.
The Press is therefore please advised to always confirm their story with the NAF before publication,” Famuyiwa said.
Prompt News Online reports that President Muhammadu Buhari, a couple of months ago directed the EFCC to investigate a number of top military officers in connection with the arms scandal.
Last week, Nigerian Army sent 38 senior officers in the rank of Colonel to Brigadier Generals on compulsory retirement, citing their involvement in partisan politics and defence contract scandal.
