Determined to ensure the victory of Nigeria’s Super Eagles over the Pharaohs of Egypt in next week’s crucial two-legged Africa Nations Cup qualifier match billed for Kaduna and Alexandria respectively, the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick has urged the sporting press to join hands with the football house to fight a common enemy in the interest of our country.
Speaking to sports journalist in an interactive session in his office in Abuja this Thursday, Pinnick reminded the media that image of Nigeria is at stake in the circumstance the federation found itself, adding that rather than waste our precious time finding fault, let all compatriots support the efforts of the NFF to prepare the Super Eagles well enough to pick victory in Kaduna on March 25 and few days later in Alexandria.
According to him negative stories in the days leading to the two important matches will not do Nigeria any good, pointing out that while its true that the federation is facing financial challenges, it has pulled all strings to ensure that the team is well motivated for the task ahead.
Meanwhile, Pinnick has said he is buoyed by the fact that some Super Eagles players have been calling him to pledge their ready to wear the national color to defend their fatherland.
He gave the example of the United States-based Fanendo Adi and his club president who have promised to make some concessions to ensure that the players comes to play for Nigeria, adding that such patriotic act is required now than any other time to ensure that Nigeria beats Egypt in Kaduna.
