A teenager, Peter Balogun was on Monday docked in an Upper Area Court, Karu, Abuja for allegedly swindling his employer of N290,000.

The police charged Balogun,19, who lives in Tiza street, Unguwan Hausawa, Kurudu Abuja with criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal misappropriation.

The prosecution counsel, Olanrewaju Osho told the court that sometime in June 2021, the defendant was employed by the complainant to take care of a POS business located at Kurudu.

He however said that the complainant sometimes this year discovered that N290, 000 was missing from the business.

The prosecutor told the court that during police investigation, the defendant was unable to give satisfactory account of the missing money.

According to Osho, the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 312, 322 and 309 of the Penal Code.

However, when Balogun’s plea was taken, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Hassan Mohammed granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000 with one surety in like sum.

He ordered that the surety must have verified address, live within jurisdiction of the court, and deposit his National Identity Card with the court.

The judge adjourned the case till Dec.12, for further hearing. (NAN)
