Public and private schools on Monday in Ilorin resumed academic activities for the 2022/2023 session.
A News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) correspondent who went round some of the schools saw both new and returning students trooping in.
The resumption however caused little gridlock as students and workers were rushing to beat resumption deadline.
Some of the students and their parents told NAN that they were excited to resume after the long vacation.
A parent, Mrs Kemi Adeoye said she was eager to bring her children to school because it was not easy getting them engaged during the holiday.
”I do not want them to be idle during the holiday and at the same time I didn’t want them to attend summer lesson.
”So, I had to enrol my daughter in a fashion design school close to my place of work for monitoring while my son that is five years follow me to work.
”Now, it is a relief for me though we will be paying more money.
”Both school fees and money for books have been increased and the economy is not smiling at all,” Adeoye said.
Another parent, Mr Okiki Iransiola appealed to school proprietors to be considerate as salaries were not increased with the hight cost of living, including school fees increment.
A student of St. Anthony’s Secondary School, Aisha Suleiman, said she was excited to reunite with friends and colleagues. (NAN)
