From Sam Ade, Abuja: In the spirit of proper accountability, the Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi has directed the Executive Board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to give a detailed account of the Super Eagles participation at the last FIFA Confederation Cup in Brazil this June and the Flying Eagles participation at the just concluded U-20 World Cup in Turkey.
Sequel to the directives, NFF President, Aminu Maigari led a powerful delegation to the Minister’s office on Monday to render accounts as demanded. On the delegation were the Federation’s top officials including the Secretary General, Musa Amadu, Technical Committee Chairman and Board member Christopher Green and Ahmed Kawu a Board member and Chairman of Nigeria Nation Wide League.
From the technical crew side was Super Eagles Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi who led his crew’s delegation comprising of First Assistant Coach Daniel Amokachi and Goalkeeper Coach, Ike Shorunmu.
Also, John Obuh who recently resigned as the Head Coach of the U-20 team following poor outing in Turkey led the Flying Eagles technical crew delegation, which included Goalkeeper Trainer, Aloy Agu.
“The visit was not a probe as many people may have insinuated. The NFF officials, the Super Eagles crew and Flying Eagles crew paid a routine
visit to the Commission. They are here to brief us and to review the Eagles participation in the Confederation Cup in Brazil and the Flying
Eagles participation in the just concluded FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Turkey.
“I won’t say I am not aware of the meeting but I was not at the parley. It was between the Director General of the Commission, Gbenga Elegbeleye and the NFF but he would brief me later since I am observing Ramadan Fasting now”, the Sports Minister said after the meeting.
