Nigeria’s Falconets in the early hours of Thursday walloped Canada 3-1 to maintain her winning streak in the on-going FIFA Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica just they will meet Netherlands in the quarter final stage.
Esther Chinemerem Onyenezide’s brace from the spot kick and a late tap-in from Chioma Olise helped Nigeria thrash Canada in the final Group C match to finish top of the ladder with a 100% win record.

had put her country ahead in the 2′ of the game following an error by Falconets goalkeeper Omini Oyono which caused panic in the Nigerian camp with Head Coach Christopher Danjuma Musa shouting himself hoarse while Canada lead lasted.
But Nigeria bounced back big time with two second half penalties expertly
scored by Onyenezide in the 24′ and 32′ as Nigeria ended the first half 2-1 advantage while sealed Canada’s hope with Olise’s ’90-1 goal to win 3-1 at full time.
With this result, Nigeria is the second side other than Japan to scoop all 9 points at the group stages. This is also the first time Falconets will post an 100% record in group stage of all FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup editions.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will meet Netherlands in the quarter final stage on Sunday at
Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto, Alajuela while France which second in Group C will play Japan winner of Group D on Monday at the same venue.
