By Gracious Akujobi African champions Super Falcons of Nigeria will next year begin the quest to play at 2015 All Africa Games and the 2016 Olympic games with likely clashes with Gabon and Mali.
According to the fixtures for the both games qualifiers, the Super Falcons are scheduled to lock horns with the winner of the first round tie between Gabon and Mali in the second round for the All Africa Games ticket on March 21/22 away and the second leg two weeks later.
For the Olympic Games billed for Brazil in 2016, the Super Falcons will slug it out with Mali with the first leg slated for Nigeria on May 23 while the second will hold in Bamako on 31.
Seventeen countries are participating in the All Africa Games qualifiers to be hosted by Congo in 2015.
They are Mali, Gabon, Libya, Guinea Bissau, Madagascar, Botswana, Nigeria, Cote d’ Ivoire, Egypt, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Cameroun, Ghana and Zimbabwe.
For the Olympics, sixteen countries have registered to fight for the three slots reserved for Africa.
The countries are Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Gabon, Libya, Cameroun, Egypt, Ghana, Cote d’ Ivoire, Tunisia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Congo and Equatorial Guinea.
Speaking on the fixtures for both games coach of Super Falcons Edwin Okon has said that the qualifiers for All Africa Games and the Olympic Games will serve as warm up matches for his team for the world cup billed for June/July next year in Canada.
According to Okon, the Falcons will have to play a couple of grade A friendly international matches before or in between the qualifiers before the world cup in June, adding that he will like to play countries from Europe or South America.
