By Gracious Akujobi Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced the appointment of two Nigerian referees by FIBA to be part of officials for the 20th edition of the Africa Championship Cup for women billed for Sfax, Tunisia between November 28 and December 7.
The lucky referees are Olayinka Famogbiyele and Babatunde Popoola.
A release by NBBF which was made available to Prompt News listed other referees invited as Abdelaziz Abassi and Hatem Langar, Tunisia, Sammy Wakaba and Ambrose Kisoi Mbalu, Kenya, Banza Kalume Tonton, D.R Congo, Kollo Guy Sani , Cameroon, Clesio Ramos and Francisco Tando, Angola, While Zouzou Nadège, Cote d’Ivoire, Sarty Nghixulfwa, Namibia, and Chahinaz Bousseta, Morocco, were invited as neutral referees.
Tunisian born FIBA Africa Technical Commission President Abderaouf Menjour, and compatriot Madam Ben Said Sahoula alongside Abdendi Hanafi from Morocco will serve as technical commissioners while Tunisian Nourredine Taboubi will serve as referee supervisor.
Meanwhile, former two time champions in 2003 and 2009 champions, First Bank Basketball Club of Lagos and FIBA Africa Zone 3 champions, Dolphins will fly Nigeria’s flag at the premier continental club basketball tournament.
