A 45-year-old man, Alex Ibiyemi on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for alleged burglary and stealing of home appliances valued at N245,000.
The defendant, whose occupation and address were not provided, was charged with burglary and stealing.
The Prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence about 11:30 a.m. on March 28, 2022.
Orogbemi alleged that the defendant broke into the home of one Segun Adetola in Okitipupa-Ikoya area of Okitipupa and stole a one 45-inch LG LED Television valued N170,000.
He told the court that the defendant also removed a Startime Decoder valued N15,000 and two Nexus solar standing fans valued N30,000 each, all worth N245,000.
Orogbemi told the court that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390 (9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Chris Ojuola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.
Ojuola said that the surety, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, must also present evidence of two years’ tax payment to the state government.
He adjourned the case until May 18 for further hearing. (NAN)
