Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has charged heads of local government councils across the state to give utmost attention to security of lives and property in their respective areas.
Fintiri gave the charge during a special meeting with local government transition chairmen on Friday in Yola.
According to the governor, the transition committee chairmen were carefully and meritoriously selected to serve their people.
“The reason why I summoned this important meeting is to remind you of your primary responsibility of closely working with security sgencies to ensure peace in your areas.
” Because, one of the fundamental priorities of any meaningful leadership is security of lives of its citizens and property.
” Therefore, ensuring security at our local government level is paramount for our collective stability and development”. Fintiri said.
He noted that adequate security was a basic need of the people,urging the chairmen to assiduously work to provide the need.
Fintiri stressed the need for council chairmen to work with all stakeholders and the Peoples Democratic Party to ensure the the success of the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
” Electioneering campaign for local government election is in process, you should work with all critical stakeholders, especially the party members in your locality”, he said.
Responding on behalf of the council chairmen, Mr Sulaiman Gangkuba, Transition Committee Chairman, Toungo Local Government Area, thanked the governor for giving them the opportunity to serve their people.
Gangkuba assured the governor that they would justify the confidence reposed on them, and work with the critical stakeholders to ensure security, peace and development of their respective areas.(NAN)
