The Adamawa State Contributory Health Management Agency (ASCHMA) has registered more than 29,043 beneficiaries uner its health insurance scheme.
Dr mos Ujulu, the Head of the agency, made this known during thd formal launching of the scheme on Monday in Yola.
Ujulu said that the beneficiaries cut across the 226 electoral wards of the state.
“About 29,043 beneficiaries cut across the 226 wards have so far been enrolled to access effective healthcare services across all primary health care centres in the state,” Ujulu said.
He said that the scheme was in partnership with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri said that the health scheme was part of his commitment to ensure Adamawa people access quality and affordable healthcare service.
Fintiri said the initiative was his administration’s strategiy to ensure Adamawa residents equally had access to health services with sufficient quality and equitable delivery without subjecting the people to financial hardship.
“The fundamental objective of the scheme is to create a platform that pool resources to enable citizens of the state have access to quality and standard healthcare without paying at the point of access.
“Healthcare provision is an integral part of my administration’s 11-point agenda, carefully crafted to provide the required compass in improving the lots of people and developing the state,” Fintiri said.
The governor assured the organised labour in the state that no worker would be left out of the scheme or shortchanged under his watch.
On his part, Prof. Muhammad Sambo, the Executive Secretary, NHIS, said the ASCHMA was in alignment with the objectives of achieving universal health coverage.
Sambo noted that health scheme was one of the top priorities on the global health agenda for easy access and affordable to generality of citizens. (NAN)
