Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, the Zamfara Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says the party will retain the state in 2023, in spite of pressure from opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Danfulani said this at an induction and leadership training for 322 APC state and ward executives in the state on Monday in Gusau.
“Zamfara is a strong home of the APC, we are therefore, optimistic of the party’s victory in the 2023 general elections,” he said.
Danfulani commended the Gov. Mai Mala Buni- led APC Caretaker Committee, for organising the training, describing it as timely.
“We are not surprised at the initiatives, this indicates that the APC is a law-abiding and well organised party.
“This is first time since the creation of the state that we are having this kind of programme of a great development in educating our party executives at the grassroots.
“On behalf of Gov. Bello Matawalle, APC-led government as well as the entire members of the party in the state, I extend our appreciation to Buni for the support,” he added.
Also speaking, Dr Nura Audi, the coordinator of the training, said it was part of the APC’s new strategy to enhance development.
“We were sent to carry out this training by the National Headquarters of the APC led by the National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe.
“The participants needed to have basic knowledge of party membership drive on how to handle new party members.
“We will also train them on defectors and returnees, managing prospects and challenges as well as inter-party peace and conflict resolution.
“Other aspect of the training includes propaganda and publicity, used and mis-used tools in politicking.
“We are going to present certificates to the participants at the end of the training,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the participants included APC chairmen and secretaries in all the 14 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state as well as wards chairmen and secretaries in the 147 wards of the state.
