Apparently to boost the morale of the men in uniforms especially the Police, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved “peculiar allowance” for the Nigerian Police Force just as the enhanced salary will be implemented from January 2022.
FEC also approved the sum of N1.2 billion for the payment of outstanding allowances of Policemen and women even as the allowance will increase Police personnel take-home pay by 20 percent of their present earning.
Also approved at Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the newly upgraded Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja, was the review of Police Duty Tour Allowance (DTA) to six percent, and as well, the release of N1.2 billion for the payment of uninsured benefits of Police personnel.
The cheering news was disclosed by Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, who briefed State House Correspondent after the Council meeting, said the approval is in consonance of President Buhari’s promise to enhance Police personnel pay as demanded by #EndSARS protesters.
He also revealed that the sum of N13b approved for release for payment of death benefits.
