At last, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, as the winner of the 2021 Anambra State Governorship Election.
The keenly contested election which took place on Saturday, November 6 but was concluded on Tuesday November 9 after a supplementary election in Ihiala Local Government Area, saw Soludo’s APGA scoring the highest votes cast to run away with victory, leaving the remaining 17 other contestants holding the short end of the electoral stick.
The Returning Officer (RO) of the Anambra election and Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, announced Soludo as the winner of the election which lasted three days due to several hitches at exactly 1.51 am on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
According to Prof. Obi, the APGA candidate polled a total vote of 112, 229 to beat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, who polled 53,807.
Sen. Andy Uba of the All Progressive Congress (APC) came third with 43,285 votes.
