Nasarawa State Geographic Information System ( NAGIS) says it has generated three billion and nine hundred thousand naira (N3.9billion) revenue from January to date.
According to NAGIS, despite the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, it was able to collect eight hundred and seventy one million naira (N871million), out of the revenue generated.
Director General of NAGIS, Mr. Sunny Agassi made this known when he led other management team of the agency to defend its 2021 budget proposal before the state House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Survey in Lafia, on Wednesday.
“In 2020, we generated N3.9billion as revenue but as at November, we have collected N871million as revenue.
“As we are all aware that the state or Nigeria was shut down due to COVID-19 and we resumed operation in July.
“Despite that, 2020 in terms of revenue collection was the best year in the history of NAGIS.
“We are looking forward to 2021 and by God’s grace, we will surpass our 2020 records, “he said.
The DG appealed to the public to pay their grant rent to enable the state government continue to execute developmental projects that will be beneficial to them.
In his remark, the Chairman of the House Committee on Lands and Survey, Hon David Maiyaki, commended NAGIS for its efforts in generating revenue to the coffer of the state government.
The lawmaker assured the management of NAGIS of the committee’s support.
“We will continue to support you to succeed and we are urging you to continue in that regards for the overall development of our state,” Maiyaki said.
