Governor Abdullahi Sule, Wednesday, charged all arms of government in the state to discharge their duties accordingly, while soliciting for their support for the development of the state.
Sule made this call during a one-day summit themed “Examining the role of the Arms of Government on the Security and Economy of Nasarawa state”, aimed at strengthening the relationship between arms of government, held at the Alhaji Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, in government House, Lafia.
The governor, in his keynote speech during the summit organized to mark the 24th anniversary of Nasarawa state, said that the path to building the state is a collective responsibility of all the arms of government.
“ It is for this reason that we must continue to show unity and purpose, cooperation, interdependence in the due discharge of our duties for the benefit of our people,” he said.
Also speaking, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdulahi, Speaker of the state house of assembly said the assembly will continue to carry out its constitutional responsibilities within the mandate of the relevant laws given to the house.
The Speaker asserted that the state assembly will not fail to pass laws that will protect the lives of the people.
“The assembly has been able to pass into law, kidnapping prohibition law, Nasarawa state Agency for Youth Empowerment Scheme, Nasarawa State Vigilante Laws, and as I speak to you, the assembly has given a second reading for a bill that has to do with rape and cultism,” he said.
Balarabe Abdullahi disclosed that in the next two weeks, heads of House committees and their members will undertake an oversight function for the purpose of knowing the performance of the 2020 budget in the necessary agencies and parastatals, before the 2021 budget is presented to the House.
In his remark, Justice Sulieman Umaru Dikko, the Chief Judge of Nasarawa state appealed to the governor to speak with his counterparts in other states to accept the Executive order 10, which provides financial autonomy for states legislature.
