Apparently to show its transparency in handling the finances of the football body, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has released the breakdown of the distribution of FIFA’s Covid-19 Relief Fund for restart of men’s and women’s football in Nigeria.
Specifically, NFF provided details of disbursements of the sum of $500,000 dedicated fund for women’s football in the country.
According to the communiqué issued after the NFF Executive Committee meeting held via Video Conference on Monday by the Executive Board members, the sum of $160,000 will go to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) to sort out the 16 clubs in the elite women’s football league.
In the same vein, the sum of $56,000 will go to 12 clubs in the NWFL Championship, while $18,000 will go to 12 clubs in the NWFL amateur division known as NWFL Nationwide league.
Other portion of the $500,000 fund according to NFF will be distributed as follows:
*Women’s Football administration and technical staff ($20,000);
*NFF Senior Women’s national team ($100,000);
*NFF Women’s Youth National Team, U-17, and U-20 ($70,000);
*Women’s coach ($10,000);
*Women’s refereeing ($10,000);
*Women’s domestic competitions, senior ($15,000);
*Women’s domestic competitions, youth ($11,000);
*Support for NWFL league admin and operations ($30,000)
Prompt News recalls that FIFA recently announced release of a $500,000 fund for the development of women’s football as well as COVID-19 relief funds to member associations.
Also, all the men’s leagues- NPFL, NNL and Nationwide as well as 37 States FA will share from the fund.
Meanwhile, the NFF said all the men’s leagues- NPFL, NNL and Nationwide as well as 37 States FA will share from the fund just as many other football stakeholders are also listed as beneficiaries of FIFA Fund.
They include the Players Union, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Referees Association, Coaches Association, Supporters Club and Super Eagles Mascots even as the men’s senior and junior national teams are beneficiaries too.
