            Omisore

A former member of the Senate, Iyiola Omisore has emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state.

According to the result released by the chairman of the Electoral Panel, Adamu Aliero, a member of the Senate, Mr. Omisore defeated two other aspirants by landslide margin.

The third aspirant, a former senator and former governor of the state, Isiaka Adeleke withdrew from the primary on Friday, citing threat from Omisore’s camp.

The official result announced by Aliero shows that Omisore scored 1,128 votes ahead of two other opponents, Olasunkanmi Akinlabi and Oluwole Oke, who garnered 45 and five votes respectively.

Aliero, also a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said 18 votes were voided.

The governorship election in Osun state is holding in August.
