The reappointed Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed has urged management and staff of the ministry to redouble their efforts for the task ahead following the added responsibility of merger with the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.
Ahmed who stated this on Wednesday while addressing the staff on resumption duty at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja said she was overwhelmed with merger of the two ministries.
Urging the staff to brace up for the new assignment, the minister added that “it lies on our shoulders to re-double your work since it is now double,”
In his welcome address the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Isah Dutse said the Minister was given the new assignment by the President because of her previous “achievements and outstanding performance”.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary (Special Duties), Alhaji Dikwa noted that the main task of the ministry now is to explore more avenues for revenue generation which he said is the ministry’s watchword.
He urged the staff to be prudent, accountable and, transparent in all their actions in order to meet the expectations of the President.
